Has anyone ever made a 250-3000 savage 99 to a 250 Ackley? I'm looking for a smith to build me a savage 99 in a 250-3000 Ackley. Although there is easier guns to build and better calibers and that it doesn't offer much, I want that one caliber that no one else around shoots and it's just down right old school cool. Does anyone know of a smith that could build one? Or maybe a smith that has built one? Or anyone that has experience with this caliber? I just think it's a classic and deserves to be used!

Bevan king rechambered a take-down for me about thirty years ago. He simply switched the spool to one for a 300 Savage, and it works slick as butter.

Friend of mine talked me out of it, and it is still killing deer as well as it did caribou.

I have "Ackley'd" many rifles... always kick myself afterward... what seemed like a good idea at the time always ends up... Meh... and I have more work to do on brass... of course, I also have more energy, because I am carrying a lighter wallet.

Sounds like a pretty straight forward mod then.
