The M&P 15 would come to about $668+tax after the lock and hard case. Still $20-$30 cheaper than the average price shipped to your door.

But... back ordered... I waited 4 months for some ammo that was back ordered once from Cabelas.
 
A buddy ordered a restricted from Cabelas a couple years ago. He got a surprise $30. surcharge to his bill for a trigger lock and padlock for the case.

That should not be a surprise. Right off the item web page:


  • Restricted PAL Required – Requires a Restricted PAL to purchase.
  • Case and Case Lock Required – Federal regulations require that this item be shipped in a locked hard case. A combination lock is added at time of order and if necessary for shipment a suitable hard case will be charged to your order (approximate cost $20-$40).
  • Oversize item – an additional shipping charge may apply to this item.
  • Export-Restricted – Cannot ship outside of Canada.
 
Whats the overall opinion on quality of these?

Thinking of building another AR and was thinking it would be cheaper to buy one of these and sell off everything but the receivers and bolt.
 
My buddy ordered one in store today (but still backordered). No requirement for the lock and case that way. I was in store a few days ago cleaning them out of .22 ammo and got a $20 promo card for completing their survey so with that, my friend got his ordered for $600.99 plus taxes. Sweet deal. Thanks for posting about it.
