Smith & Wesson 107mm "Canadian" 686

I got mine.
I love it!
You can see a slight drop in finish quality over the 686-4 that I sold to get this, but overall still a very nice piece of workmanship.
The Hogue grip is excellent. The lock is a little funny, but unobtrusive.
The barrel is a little different on the top compared to the top strap.
The lines don't match very well, but not a big concern.

The price tag is worth it. I finally have a modern gun with a proportionate looking barrel.
Thanks goes to whom ever brought this to Canada.
A big win over stupidity in laws.

Awesome Dook, you'll have to give us arange report and let us know how well it shoots. Will you be shooting factory or handloads, mostly .357 or .38 Special?

Just clarify, is there talks of a Canadian 629 in .44 mag for next year? Is that a trend that is likely to take place in the near future?

I just got mine, the only complaint is the cheap S&W hard rubber grips they put on to replace the soft rubber Hogue.(see 686 on S&W website) There may as well not even finger grooves in them and it doesn't feel planted in your hand like the Hogue. Budget $25 more in your purchase for some Hogue grips which is pretty disappointing when you just dropped $900.

North Silva - have you had any other complaints about these grips?

I'd definitely be interested in one or two of the following 4.2" revolvers:

-610 (most want - will buy!)
-629 (will buy, but then skip 500)
-s&w500 (will buy, but then skip 629)

Anxiously waiting... by the sounds of it, looks like a 629 is in the near future.

Like this one at 106mm and no lock???
