Opinions? I am looking for yet another 10mm and the 1006 has held my attention for a while now. I am wondering about price and reliability. If anyone knows where to find one in excellent condition that would be peachy too!

S&W 10mm's.

I once had a Model 1066 10mm which is the compact 4.25" barrel version. The particular one I had was a limited 1 of 5,000 with factory nite sites. They do appear on the EE from time to time, which is where I eventually sold it. And it was resold a year or so later, too. Likely someone on the board here still has it.

Anyway, it was very reliable & accurate. The stainless Smiths are no light weights so it absorbed the recoil of full house 10mm pretty well, too. For 10mm, I own/shoot Colt Delta's now but I do miss that Smith from time to time. So, I make do with it's little brother, a Model 4006, in .40 S&W:

What did you pay and what did you sell for? PM me if it's not something you want to share.

Bought it early/mid 90's, used but exc, from a dealer in Victoria, B.C. [no longer in business] in box, with factory papers, 2 mags, stock grips for $650 and the tax of the day. I added a spare mag [so 3 mags total] and the soft Hogue grips. Sold it for $750 + shipping circa 2004 or 2005 on the EE, I believe.

I can't recall what it sold for when it was posted on the EE again or who had it.

I have several:). Looking for steel this time. I am considering the S&W 610 and Dan Wesson CBob as well. The CBob is a bit more than I want to spend though. I am open to suggestions under $1500...

Always wanted a S&W 610.... then could shoot both 10mm and .40 S&W's in it, both of which I am set up to load for....

I like my 1006 a lot; bought it for a $720, including two mags and spare Hogue grips, in the EE a bit under a year ago. Didn't like it at first though, took a while to get used to the trigger. But since I have it shoots great, like NAA said, it really tames the recoil on the round. I'd prefer it if it had fixed sights like on that 1066 pictured above.

I also have a 610, what a fun wheelgun! It was really rough out of the box (it's a 610-3), and remained that way until I opened it up and noticed the innards were bone dry. Lubing helped a lot, but since I installed a Wolff trigger kit, it's like butter (won't ignite anything other than Federals, though).

Now all I need's a CBob, and maybe one of those new Bren Tens, and I'll be satisfied in the 10mm department.

Hey B,

I have a 1006 and a 1076 (same as NAA's 1066 but with a frame mounted decocker) and I would highly recommend either one of them:agree:. As the boys already stated, recoil is very manageable in the heavy S&W 10XX series guns. I bought both of mine on the EE and they were each around the $700 mark IIRC.

The 610 is a great gun as well but will probably run you a few more bucks. $1100 for a new one I believe, but well worth it! I bought mine on here a couple of years or so ago and I think I paid $650 for it:eek:. Actually, it's wearing the grips that are pictured on Cerdan's gun above as I bought them from him:wave:. They are more pretty than practical though.:D

Hehe, I see I'm not the only one who couldn't get my hands around those purdy gray grips.

I wonder how many people in the world have hands that would fit those grips...
