Smith & Wesson SW1911 Compact. Has anybody seen one in Canada? I'm wondering if they are currently available.

I've got one on the way. I haven't found an FRT for it, so it could be the first in Canada.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm getting, but I hope it's like the one pictured.

Looks nice.... would be good if it was a true commander sized. The officer's sized frames have a shorter grip & don't fit my hand all that well. But this new 'Smith looks cool. Wonder how much they will be?

You're right, but it's looks are deceiving. It is a Commander slide on top of an Officer's frame. The idea is to make a more concealable 1911 with a Commander length barrel. This configuration is often referred to as a CCO.

With a shorter grip comes a shorter mag; usually one round less than a Government/Commander length mag. Not a bad trade off if concealment is of paramount importance...

FYI, the gun is now here. Another first in Canada it looks like. It's definitely a nice piece. A new FRT will have to be made for it, as there is none yet. When the FRT is issued I will advertise it for sale in the appropriate subforum.

Yeah, it's a 4.25" barrel, 108 mm.
