Hi there,
I did a quick search but couldn't find anything real quick on S&W model 39 - in particular, changing the barrel to make it a restricted instead of prohib. From what I gather, the standard length is 4" barrels, but are there, for sake of argument, 4.2" barrels easily available? Has anyone done or seen one? Just wondering - I've always liked the look of the 39 / 4006 type Smiths. Used 39's show up frequently - so for a bit extra, add a new barrel to a nice looking 9mm? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There were a few made by Bar-Sto I think but not any more. A few gunsmiths have "extended" the original barrel and had it changed to restricted.
Write your MP and tell him or her to get rid of C68.

My Mdl. 39 was re-barrelled and re-registered as "restricted" by Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces. He does excellent work.

Thanks for the replies. I browsed a little further and found some discission for the 3906 mods by Bits of Pieces - same idea as what I had in mind. At 300$ plus the price of gun, it's hardly worth it. It was just a thought...
