Me again,
This time I'm in the market for a S&W 41. I want to buy one in absolutely mint condition for my collection. It is hard to find relevant info on this model. Did the model evolve over the years? (I already know about the following models: 5''/7''/7''+ flash sup.) Are there some production years that should be avoided? Is the blue as good on the new ones?? I'm interested on anything I could read on the model. (links) I would also like to do little price check: Wholesale sports sells it NIB for 1119$ Is there a better price somewhere in Canada???

I have a very early M-41, low serial #, 7 3/8" barrel, loaded chamber indicator, etc. and except for a few spots the bluing is excellent. Best .22 I own...extremely accurate, well built and easy work on. S&W quality firearm.

The basic design has stayed the same over the years with minor changes you'd expect with a legacy design. I haven't heard a lot of bad news with newer pistols, but there's lemons in firearms too.

I bought mine based on the info available at: rimfirecentral.com (S&W section) and smith-wessonforum.com (S/A pistol section).Search and/or ask question. TomBeck at rimfirecentral is an excellent resource.

No disrespect to other CGN's here with M-41's, but there's a huge amount of info on M-41's at those 2 site.

For the money you're looking to spend you can probably find a good used M-41 with both a 5.5 and a 7" barrel on EE here for less if you're not in a hurry. If you're stuck on new, $1k is about the going price. Either way you'll not be disappointed.
