Smith & Wesson 4506

Those grips are burled maple. - dan

:)I thought so. Got some, actually two plastic milk crates full of pieces. I got from a local guy that's into carving and wood working projects that he sell at street markets down town in the summer. Got enough to get me started and an order of some checkering tools and grip screws arrived from Brownell's. Next chore, make up a work/checkering bench.

That 4516, must have! And the 40 too. Then I just need the two 10mm pistols and I can put them to bed with the 5946 I got and they can breed!

And he's driving the nicest truck around too

I had the pleasure of meeting and visiting him twice in the mid 70's. That photo was one I took of him posing by my '67 Chev as I was preparing to leave after spending the day visiting him at his home in Salmon Idaho.

Not too long ago, I contacted the manufacturer of his holster and had them make one up for my 4" 29. The present model varies from the original in that it has a covered trigger guard area

but they kindly agreed to make me a replica of his.

Saw this recently on the Movie Training day. Liked the look of it. Anyone have and experience with this firearm? What is the value of one now?

I actually own many of these Smith's, very robust guns........

With three others chambered for 45 ACP, I've been 'thinking I may' sell my S&W 4506 with two extra mags. ;)Especially if something comes up, again, that I can't live without:redface:.

check out the 4566 in my sig line, commander length, very nice gun

A photo of your 4516 sounds good, if you don't mind. I did a little checking on the net but with my pre-metric era computer skills, I wasn't able to find one of a decent enough size to give me a clear look at it. I'm guessing the 4516 is probably compareable in size to a 1911 Colt Commander and that's definately a size and handgun I like.
