Hi, guys I want to buy a Smith 586 revolver 1980s local. the problem is the hammer has been filed down to. it shoots double action.

My question is I have a model 10-5 and is the hammer on the model 10-5 the same as the hammer on the 586
if I buy the 586 can I just replace the hammer on the 586 with my hammer from the model 10.

What's wrong with shooting it double action only? It will take away the temptation to shoot single action and force you so shoot it as it should be shot.

??? maybe he wants both options and fyi dao is not as accurate.

Sorry op, i'm not sure but you could call MD Charlton and they might be able to find out definitively through S&W.

FYI, it is as accurate. The individual shooter may not be able to express that accuracy, but it is still as accurate.

You would want to contact Murray Charlton Enterprises. Murray is no longer with MD Charlton. Murray Charlton Enterprises is now the S&W repair centre.
