Smith & Wesson 686 5" Pro Series Raptor/Rappy .357Mag

Luv it, so cute, for sure would buy it if I was looking for a Pro series.
For sure would get a non fluted 627 V-Comp Rappy.

What's wrong with the grips?

Yes I'm curious. They look like standard Hogue which are pretty decent. Some light sandblasting would probably clear up the engraving. Looks lightly laser etched. Or at least it would be very faint. It's a gun right ?

I replaced them with wood ones. Guns are made from wood and steel. I still haven't decided if I got the ones I like though. I absolutely hate finger groove grips. They are not made for shooting fast, and they force my hands way too low. I always feel that manufacturers put garbage grips and sights on guns because they know people will just chuck them. I will be replacing at least the front sight on this gun too. Either a 1 mm fibre one or gold.

The dinosaur is cute. And ferocious.
 
I wonder how hard it would be to get that "Rappy" off the barrel. I don't mind the dinosaur, and I love the rest of the gun.
 
Looks like same grip on my 686. I really like them; allow the web to ride over the top, just like Jerry Miculek, gives way better recoil management. I hold it so high can't do single action.
A lot more comfy than wood grips on my -3 686 which are hard and slippery.

Got the FO front on my 686 and Ruger 45ACP.

Nice, but I think I'll hold out for the SIG 226 "STEGGY" stegasaurus edition.
Who ever heard of any gun having dinosaur edition?
Seriously, does anyone have any clue what the velociraptor has to do with anything? The whole design team needs a kick in the pants! Pink / muddy girl camo would appeal to more people than this crap! "Rappy"? Has anyone ever even heard that before?!?
Ugh. Ok. Rant over.

My old man's a Smith and Wesson guy so I've been going back and forth between a Smith and ruger.....
 
The dinosaur looks kind of cool, the barrel engraving not so much.

It's sort of a funny special edition in an ironic sort of way. There have been so many stupid special editions over the years.. why not one that's at least made with some self-awareness of the fact. I sold my plain jane 686 a couple years ago, but a 5" gun with the bevelled lug is pretty ###y.

Which dealers will be stocking these?

Bullseye In London has 4 of them.
 
Should of put a wolf on it and wrote lone wolf on the barrel instead.

Might be able to find one buyer for it...

HAHA the Steggy, that would at least have a comical element to it. The Rappy is just... uhhh... yeah. Sweet gun though still.
 
I hate to think what sort of cute name they come up with for the parasaurolophus edition.
