Made it to the range today with my instructor, Fred Guse. He wanted to try out my S&W M&P 22. I think he was impressed.

First few rounds getting warmed up, both of us at about 15 yds.

A little messy but it was kind of cool, -7C, and my carpal tunnel was acting up a bit.

After warming up a bit I laid out this fairly decent, I think anyways, grouping at 15 yds.

The rest of the time we plastered a steel cowboy target with the pistol and my Winchester Cooey 64B.

Fun day. I luv the "PLINK" of the steel targets.

Nice! Glad to see others that like the M&P 22

I'm a new shooter and to the point I've never been to an outdoors range yet :D. I have no idea where it came from but I seem to be turning into a Smith and Wesson fan boy.

I had some M&P 22 fun too yesterday. Changed the front sight and went to test it out. So far I have no complaints and love that .22

Try out at about 12 meters away

Nice grouping! I looked at the HiViz sights but settled for the Williams Firesights instead. I don't know if it was the best choice but it seems to be working. Still a bit more tinkering to do to get them dialed in perfectly. I don't have a good pic of them yet but you can see them on this picture.

They nice and bright which is important for an ole' fart like me with terrible eyesight.

Sights look good too but that picture is giving me a bad case of mag envy :)

Still looking around for some extra mags.

Sent you a PM. Noticed too late that they're currently out of stock. Sorry about that. Might be worth sending them an email to see when they'll have more. I bought mine when I bought the pistol.

Short Answer is no.

I've looked at my wife's gun and compared to the other M&P's we have (9FS, 9 CORE, Shields, 9C) the sight slots seem to be different.

Damn. I was hoping to fit xs big dots on them like I have on my centerfire stuff. Same sight picture would have been nice.

Thanks :)

Does anyone know if normal M&P sights can be fitted to the M&P 22?

I fitted a Warren Tactical front sight on mine. Not too much fitting involved. As noted, the slide material is not steel, so you need to be very careful that you don't deform the dovetail.

There's a few vids on YouTube on fitting sights to the M&P .22 I watched a few before installing the Williams Firesights. The dovetails aren't perfectly parallel so you have to drive the old sights out from the left to right (barrel facing forward) and in from the Right to Left. Mine took a little sanding with some 300 grit emery cloth to get them in.

I tried, and apologize for the crappy cell phone pics, of the sights I installed.

They're nice and bright and it's a lot easier to focus on the front sight. For $54 it was a good mod I think. Yesterday's venture out to the range was ok. I threw 40 rounds at this target at 15 yds. All stayed on the paper. More than I can say for the first few outings! :) Still working on technique and gaining a little more muscle memory each time.

This is what it looks like when you're in a hurry and you throw about 120 rounds at 3 paper targets! :)

It was cold and damp and I just wanted to get through it. The reason was to try out some different ammo. CCI Blazers, Winchester X-22 & Federal American Eagle, all bulk packs if that makes any difference I dunno. Was a little farther back at about 20 yds or so. Wasn't shooting for accuracy but wanted to keep them on the paper at least.

I fired 40 rounds of each.

The CCI's worked perfectly, no FTL, no FTE no FTF
The Winchester X-22, 2 FTL, 3 FTE and 1 FTF
The Federal American Eagle, 2 FTL, 2 FTE no FTF

I don't know if that's good or bad. I was expecting a little better out of the Federal ammo, just bought 1000 rds of it. I did unload another 40 rds of the X-22 at a wasted target and they went off without a hitch. Go figure.

And now for those still pining after my magazines here's a lil' pic just to taunt you! :runaway:

Do you guys lubricate your ammo?

Love mine also, I was lucky to get 2 extra mags when I purchased it & haven't had any issues at all!
What ammo have you been using in it? Mine will eat Blazers all day without a hiccup. The others I've tried, Winchester X & Federal American Eagle I have problems with. It works fine with Velocitors and Mini-mags but they're a lil' spendy for just plinking.
