What are the differences between the sport II optics ready and the regular sport II model?

Aside from the railed gas block.

...So they took the MBUS rear off, and replaced the A2 front sight post with that big blocky pic rail thing... I would think that those 2 things might even each other out in price, and MSRP should still be in the $700 range? For a $950 M&P, I would expect at least a free-float forend.

This is kinda weird...

I was wondering that too and part of a price difference is a chrome-lined chamber and barrel! 6-position collapsible stock.

I don’t think so, according to the Smith web site this model is Armornite lined. And is listed at $719 US vs the usual Sport II we saw early on listed at $739 US.

Features
• Gas Block with Integral Picatinny-Style Rail
• QD Sling Swivel Attachment Point (bottom of gas block)
• Chromed Firing Pin
• Armornite® Finish on Barrel - Interior and Exterior
• Forged, Integral Trigger Guard
• Forward Assist & Dust Cover
• 1 in 9” Twist
• Threaded Barrel

The chromed line barrel version has a different lower, note the trigger guard is not forged and barrel profile is different.
