Has anyone ever handled these? How well do they shoot? How reliable are they? My father is thinking of buying one, and I never heard of them. Didn't know Smith & Wesson made AR15's until today, and now I'm curious about them.

I have one. I posted a review at the time and I'm pleased to say that its still working well. Highlights: fit and finish first class, works every time with all ammo put through it no feeding or jamming at all - and I've only shot cheap factory stuff ( American Eagle, Remington UMC and Winchester White Box ) no handloads. Some people don't like the .223 vs 5.56 thing and the lack of flash hider but it isn't a concern for me. Overall, I'm happy and like the rifle. I haven't really put much effort into accuracy testing but it seems to group around the 2 to 4 MOA and I feel with optics and some handloads or match ammo it would be better.

I have one with 1025 rounds of various ammo, UMC, S&B, PMC, American eagle, Winchester USA. When I first took it out the bolt would not lock back on an empty mag with the telescoping stock that was supplied. When I put the A2 that was also supplkied it worked perfect. Something out of spec. I now have a Magpul MOE with a H Buffer , new tube, and spring. It has made things run smoother and no fail to feeds, fail to eject or any problems.. Fit and finnish is up with the best I have seen, the finnish is very smooth. There is very little play between the upper and lower receivers. Nice crisp trigger. The rifle can shoot better than I can. Features I like on it is chrome bore, chamber, bolt carrier, MPI bolt, removable carry handle, F marked front sight. The downside is that there is no muzzle break and the chamber being 223 vice 5.56. That being said it is a easy and relitivly cheap to have a gunsmith do. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it. The rifle is much better than the issued ones in the Canadian Forces in my opinion.

About the 223 chamber.....My 2 cents is I am sure its a 5.56 but marked 223 for import into Canada....

I plan on doing a indepth review with pics in the near future.
