Hello all,

Venting a little here.

In february, I sent in my 686-7 to an authorized S&W repair facility because none of the shells were ejecting after firing 357's.

A quick look and the people there told me the bore in the chambers was too loose and allowing the casings to expand too much. Ok, since it was "born" that way, they will replace the cylinder.

Well, it's been on order ever since. The service center tells me getting parts from S&W is a shot in the dark and horribly long delays are a common thing.

How can a company be so bad? I can honnestly say I'll never buy another gun from them if this is "acceptable business practice" for them.

I initially sent the gun to Snapshot Inc in Quebec, after a few months, they decided to abandon S&W warranty work because of all these issues waiting for parts. My gun was transfered to Murray Charlton in BC along with the part still being on order since Feb 2017.
Murray have been great at keeping me informed, but their hands are tied until the part shows up.

I would have expected this kind of part availability (or lack of) from a shady little gun manufacturer from a far away country, but not S&W...

Anybody else experiencing crappy service from them?

All my S&W service (2 claims) has been through Murray Charlton and has been excellent.

I think you mean they're swapping out the cylinder. Changing the barrel will not correct the issue you stated.

Both M. Charlton excellent service and S&W extremely slow responses to ship parts to Canada have come up in the past in this forum, that's the way it is up here. Maybe try giving S&W US a call directly?

The problem lies with governments. . US Homeland Security and Canadian counter part. . i believe you will find this problem with any handgun brand.

I sent an M&P22 to them for repair, took almost 2 years to get it back along with MANY EMAILS. I sold it as soon as I got it back and swore I would never buy another smith product.

Good luck to you and stay on top of them.
