SMLE Jungle Carbine Conversion

I remember seeing a No5 conversion kit for sale at Valley Guns dot com. Kind of a neat project to do (if you have a sporterised No4).

Cantom, you are right about the wood from Numrich, it is converted from No4 wood and required a lot of work to get it to fit properly. Hay it was a winter project and even if it is not as cold here as it is up north, it gave me something to do on long nights. It is also heaver and thicker that No 5 wood. I tried what you suggested with the front sight and could not spread it wide enough to fit without moving. A friend made an adjustable front sight for one of his No 4’s by removing the sight blade and replacing it with a threaded post, something like an AR-15 front sight. He is making me one like that with a set screw running through to the bottom of the dovetail for me. On his rifle it gives a great site picture and is adjustable for height and can be made in any size you want.

miller806, Is the front sight you describe similar to these?

That is a very interesting article Miller! Adjustable front sight element..great idea that. I'm saving that article.
You could also thread the screw right down till it hits the base of the flash hider on that Numrich flash hider, thus retaining the sight in place. It'd have to be timed though so the blade was lined up while the screw was just at the limit of it's travel.

I'd love to take a 7.62 converted #4 chop the barrel to 18.5 and install all the J.C bits add a repro no4t mount , scope and cheek piece. And I wouldent even care if you called me bubba because I would have a L.E that is perfection in my eyes.
