There are 4-1/2 different types.
First were looped at the top (Super rare now), but these were reworked into wings (quite rare enough).
Then wings.
Wings modded and modded holes in side, during the Great War.
Straight-up type, used only in India, mostly post-Independence. Not on my 1943 Ishapore, on my 1948, so I don't know precisely when the change-over came.

Thx guys sounds like they changed along with the rifles as they were modded aswell i have a 1908 shtle im trying to get parts for with not much luck so im trying just to put a full wood set on for now until i find all the stuff its missing so im guessing later stock nosecap etc will work on it the mag cut off is gone volleys etc just need full wood and hardware on it i cant stand lookin at it sporterized anymore! Thx
