Chamber Dimensions: The .455 Webley Mk II case is longer (approx. 0.77 inches) than a .450 Adams case (approx. 0.69 inches). If a .455 cartridge manages to chamber in a shorter .450 cylinder, the casing neck will overflow into the cylinder throat. When fired, the casing cannot open properly to release the bullet, creating a massive, catastrophic spike in pressure.
Sometimes chambers are reamed straight through, which is why a .450 revolver may accept a .455 cartridge. Have to check.
My RICs are .450, and will not accept .455 Mk. II cases because the chambers are specifically for .450.
