Smokeless loads for .455 and 7,5 Swiss revolver.

I really don't want to shoot black powder in these old ladies. Does anyone have any modest loads for them? I'm only looking for enough steam to get through cardboard at 25 yards. TIA.

7.5 swiss ord I would not go over 3.5gr of what ever pistol powder you might have.

I've shot a couple of boxes of, CIL?, factory .32 S&W long through an 1882 Swiss Revolver, years ago, without any issues. YMMV

Case capacity for both 7.5 Swiss and .32 S&W Long ctgs are very close. 10.86 gr water S&W to 11.35 gr water for the Swiss ctg.
The Swiss having larger volume would have less pressure, given the same charge of powder as the .32 S&W Long.
Lead bullets, proper sized and of the same weight.
Data for .32 S&W Long is easy to find on line.

455 ctg used in a break action may differ from a solid frame revolver of the same age.
Break action is usually considered as weaker.

I've used 2 1/2 grains of Unique in the .455, nice light load.

455 Webley had about three variations in the case. There’s the shorter Mark II case and some of the vintage cases have balloon heads.

I used a load of Unique because there’s data for it in old manuals. If I were starting over I would find something more available slower on burn rate.

I've been using 4.6 gr's of Herco with a soft lead cast 235 grain bullet in my .455 Enfield that was made in 1924.
Herco is a little slower than Unique in burn rate
Soft shooting and accurate.
Trying to hot rod the 455 in old Enfields or Webley's is a bad idea

Around 635 to 650 fps according to my Garmin chrono.

.455 webley mark ll I was using a 200gr .452 with 3-3.5gr of HP38. max velocity was around 680fps

This online manual I downloaded and printed off. Has most common handgun cartridgesin it, and you can extrapolate. - dan
