Sorry folks not sure where to make this post as the black powder boys will certainly throw me off their site.

Does anyone know anyone that owns a smokeless barrel for their TC? I believe there are a couple of companies in the US that make after market barrels for it. I just want to ask them if they like it or not and whether it is worth my while getting one.

I have a Savage Smokeless (yes I have seen all the images of the blown up guns loaded by people who are not hand loaders) and I love it. Was thinking of setting up my TC as it would be lighter than the Savage and I like how the TC shoots and handles.

Berrgarra barrels makes barrels for TC. I just ordered one from graft and sons. Look them up on the net. You can order muzzleloader barrels across the border as they do not require an export permit.

Are you looking for an actual "muzzle loader" barrel that can use smokeless powder or are you looking for one of the centerfire barrels? To my knowlege I have not heard of anyone daring to make a TC muzzle loader barrel that is capable of shooting smokeless!!!! Heck, no one even makes a TC barrel for an encore in any of the WSM cartridges including the 223,243 or 25wssm due to excesive pressures.

I am looking for a smokeless powder muzzle loader barrel that I can use on my TC (not black powder). I actually called the company that ljc gave the website for, but they cannot ship to Canada as they have no US export permit.

Thanks pdonura I will check out Berrgarra barrels and see if they make a smokeless barrel for the TC.

Lots of successful custom conversions done of TC Encores to use smokeless. It's not for everyone and requires advanced knowledge and skill to get the proper barrel and breach plug for safety. SMI has done a lot. May get one made up myself as I liked everything about shooting smokeless in my Savage except for that rifle's weight.

The Encore has a pretty strong action. Interestingly MGM and Gary Reeder have chambered Encores in the WSMs but not now it would seem. This from Reeder,

The WSM cartridges are doing extremely well after a rugged start. We have done a fairly long and involved test with the WSM cartridges in the encore barrels and with the findings of that test, we will no longer chamber them in the encore. We found minor stretching of the frame in as little as 100 rounds. We don't have any problems at all with the 300 win mag and will continue chambering that. It does surprisingly well in the encore pistol.

Pretty sure Berragara barrels makes a muzzleloader barrel not smokeless. Good luck.
