SMOKELESS Smokepole

you'll love it doug i have the stainless laminate and use 44grns (weight) acurate 5744 and htp 300grn .45cal in black high pressure sabbots. at 100 meters five shots all touching.

back to d.bala..

Thanks for the recipe!

I was out to the range today in the 30 kph crosswinds, got the scope into the bull, but the best I did at a hundred yards was 2". WAY good enough for hunting, and this puppy deserves some play time later, after hunting season, and with decent weather.

Now by golly if I can just find a deer to put those crosshairs onto......!!!!

Doug

Anyone know if the Remington .50 inline will take smokeless?
Funny to hear you talking about rain. It's been down past -30ºC here the past ten days or so, past -40º a few nights too. Looks like it's breaking now, but I don't see any rain in our near future.

Good choice Doug! That's what I would buy too if I were out for a new one. I went finaly to an inline last year and I find it right nice at stuffing the freezer. That extra from the smokeless gun will be a welcome thing to have in hand when your whatching a field and shots are out there to 200. Pe inline I can't count how many deer I didn't shoot at due to range/tt

smokeless muzzleloader

i have burnned up at least 70 lbs of black powder
in the last 2 1/2 years. and yes i have dry balled
and double charged a few times. dry ball is no
problem with a flinter and double charge no problem
with black powder. ah almost forgot the short start
balls, a few of those too. it's not a question if but
what will happen when you double charge??????????
you can get religous loading cartriges but out in the
feild this #### happens my. 2pesos worth

congrat,s on the new toy:D ........dont forget pics of the meat damage on the bambie.......
maybe in the spring. just to get blowoff some steam, from the winter..... we should get a bunch togeather to blast off a few round,s of our m/l,ers..
i think it would be great to blast and watch a bunch of m/l,ers going off:dancingbanana:

Holy cripes TT, where you been hiding?

Geez man I figured something happened to you.

Predator contest this year?:D
Naw nothing happened to me. I'm still the same loveable old grnhawg as always. Hmm let me qualify that! Lots has happened:D :D . I've been popping in lately and I see we can get to page 3 without any personal attacks and complete highjacks(and here I go highjackin this one! Sorry Doug:D ) Heck I may soften up a bit and show up more often. Heck I even logged into Predator Masters a couple times this month. Winter coming on I get some more time on the puter.
Wanna do a contest? Sure why not! Give it a launch and I'll sharpen up a gouge and a skew and go at it:D :D /tt

Hi guys, and especially Tom! LONG TIME NO SEE!!!!

Back to Casull: No, the Rem 700 ML will absolutely NOT take smokeless powder. No. Nein. Non. Nyet.

As far as I know, and BIGREDD posted essentially the same thing, there is no other muzzle-loader on the market that will take smokeless powder.

And yes it is a fun toy, but by golly I want to SHOOT A DEER with it!!!!

DO NOT USE SMOKELESS IN YOUR REMINGTON. The only muzzleloader designed for smokeless is the Savage.

But Doug won't make any smoke, he's a non-smoker you know... :D

Hmmm...I shoot smokless in all my blackpowder rifles.
Any idea why  you couldn't use it in a ML except for the fact that unlike BP you would be in serious trouble with a double load

back to senior, I understand it is because of the pressure generated. Most MLs are not built to take the pressure of smokeless powder - according to the Savage owner's manual, which might or might not be true.....

Seems to me I heard 762nato say that BL generates something like 16,000 CUP, but the smokeless load is more than double that......

As I pointed out :) smokless load pressure is controlled by the volumne of powder & the controlled expantion pressure!
Shotgun loads are very low pressure probably similar to ML rifle pressures.

Savage is not the only one. There is this one from Bad Bull that uses a Rem 700 action.

There is another I saw in a magazine that uses a ruger action but cant seem to find.

Will also shoot a 200gr sabot @ 3100fps.They also report 3'' groups @ 300yrds

Delmer,
I don't have a Remington ML, just thinking on it.
My understanding is that most ML barrels are not made to withstand smokeless pressures, it doesn't have much to do with the action of these new inlines.
There were some small cap and ball revolvers a few years ago that took smokeless. If I remember correctly Freedom Arms made one at one time recommended to dip the cylinder and seat bullets. It was small bore but I don't remember the exact specs.
