Smoker recommendation

If you don't want to build your own I recommend a Bradley. Bought one under your price mark and am more than happy. I have used it at -20 and it still worked fine. I have had it for a few years and it is simple to use, easy to control temp and does a great job. Only thing is the wood pucks do cost but considering the results I have gotten I don't mind.

I've had excellent results in my Dyna-Glo vertical smoker that has two propane burners and is designed to use pellets or wood chips. I've also tried smaller logs and branches - works fine. I know the purists here won't like it, but it's made smoking painless and propane is a hell of a lot cheaper than charcoal and briquettes... Haven't made sausages yet but it comes with hooks for hanging them! The pork and beef I've made in it has always come out just like I've wanted it to as well.

Bought it from Costco and it was something like $250 - $300. Very happy with it!

The Traeger pellet smokers are nice. Barrel shape and you can feed your own homemade smoking chips too.

That is if you don't want the treated lumber chips/pucks from the stores packed in plastics.

Does anybody know the glue composition they use to bind them together?

No glue, high pressure forming causes the natural lignin in the wood to bind.
