Great guns, great price, different takedown/assembly........I must say I'm stoked that the "smokin deal "was for the MK 12's!
They have come along way since Marstar's first offerings.
Maybe contact Trigger Wholesale (the new importer) and see if they can point you towards a dealer with stock
Just got my K100 basic today!
I like the feel in my hand, but would like to improve the grip. I see VanMan has added grip tape to his Excalibur. Are there other options to give a bit better grip?
Grip tape is the best option for added grit. If you need to get a smaller fit or larger, Trigger Wholesale will have the spare backstraps available.
Aside from the K22S which doesn't come in the big box, I don't believe TW is going to bother with the stripper packaging without the added backstraps.
Way too many people want that option.
The MK7 method certainly looks easier to me.
The takedown IS annoying. There I said it. Compared to any other gun it is more difficult, though I would hardly hold that as a fault compared to its actual performance. When its time to take it apart I'm not racing against any clocks or paper bad guys so I can fight with it all I want. The performance is worth it to me.
Also playing with it now, I'm thinking the mk12 system didn't actually make it any easier, it made it require an extra half set of hands for a somewhat cleaner/more solid frame. It's a tradeoff not an improvement imo.
On both systems it still usually takes me a few tries to get it on, and I usually get it to just bite enough to hold, then give it a firm smack on the top of the slide to get it to fall into proper position.

Well mine arrived today (.22lr).....The biggest improvement with the MK 12 takedown is the dustcover rail is now rock solid instead of being easily flexed which was the case with the old trigger guard takedown. The big hole where the trigger guard passed through the frame was a weak point.
That said I did notice that the new rail is not the same size as the old rail..... I tried a laser that fits rock solid and easy on/easy off on my older GP6 (Mk7) and it won't even start to slide onto the rail.....what ever spec it is it's bigger then the old Mk 7 rail.
Any Input on what the current rail size is and why it was changed Canuck?
It is a bit of a juggling move to hold down the tabs but you only need to hold them down for a moment as the slide gets to the stop position then you can let go....reassembly requires a firm push down on the slide when you think you have it in place and it will click and then you are home.
There are no re assembly instructions it just says to reverse the process but for the size of the instruction booklet another paragraph going over the re assembly seems like a good idea. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't going home because it looked like the slide was mated with the grip frame but it needed a bit more of a push down to get it to click into place. With the .22's fixed barrel there is no need to worry about barrel orientation which simplifies matters.
I must say the build quality of these .22's is incredible! Can't wait for the next range session.

That firm push down or "smack" as you say is definitly worth mentioning in the instruction manual.....you get to a point where it looks like everything is golden but it's locked and won't slide forward till you snap it down a bit further.
They refer in the manual to the gun appearing light and "predaceous and then repeat that it has a "predaceous" design..... I had to google the word because in the context of a firearms manual I just wasn't getting it.....
Thanks Canuck, I'll give the grip tape a try. The sizing feels right, so I'll leave the backstrap as is. I will get in touch with TW to source some magazines though.
