hi their

i was thinking of purchasing a rem express 12gauge in a slug gun. it says they can be bought with either a smooth barrel or a rifled barrel.

i would like to be able to use buckshot just incase i walk up on a momma bear. i would be using this gun for deer and bear. for bear as a back up gun .

should i just get the rifled or are the smooth bore with rifled slugs just as accurate?

thanx

For versatility I'd go with the smooth bore with rifled slugs, if you are serious about slug shooting you can always buy another barrel, and simply change it out in a few seconds at the truck.

Some barrels like Mossberg for example even come with integral scope mounts on their rifled slug barrels.

If you are going with open sights, I would just go with the smoothbore. If you want to scope it and shoot 75 yards plus, I would say go with the rifled barrel.
