I see wtb ads come up now and then what's the point of them why not just shoot the shot through your regular 22 or buy a beater cooey heck you could even get a 64 and have yourself a semi auto 22 shotgun. Is there something I'm missing do they have chokes or are they just a collector thing?

would rifling affect shooting shot shells?

I was interested for a while, mostly as a collector item but also for fun with mice around the sheds...but my interests quickly passed

Rifling screws up the pattern really badly.

I shot a load of #7.5 through a 12g rifled shotgun and the pattern was completely gone at 15 ft. I would not have been confident in killing anything, even a squirrel. Now imagine the miniscule amount of shot coming from a .22 shell.

A looooong time ago in Guns and Ammo, there was an article on just this. I seem to remember that the smooth bore .22 shot loads performed a lot better. I've fired them out of rifled barrels and the donut pattern is very evident.

Yea it screams, I missed with the pellet gun, time for a shotgun!

Might want to look into a 9mm flobert shotguns. It's even a rimfire.
