Hello, I have a browning abolt in 7-08 that I really like, but the bolt is still a little stiff and the cocking is a bit stiff. I am wondering how difficult a job it would be to slick up the action by myself or is this something better left to a gunsmith? If anybody knows what tools I would need and where to apply them I would much appreciate it.

As for the cocking, you might have some burrs (very small) in the area that joins your bolt together. Take the bolt apart and lightly run some 000 steel wool over this area (if there is a burr, the steel wool will let you know as it will snag). Then you know where the problem is and can polish it out with some 600grit sandpaper. (or 400)

Proper cleaning of built up grease and light lubricant after and that will most likely solve your problem.

Being a 3 lug bolt they are a bit stiffer to #### than what you may be used to...

Also do not grab the bolt handle... just palm it up and down and forward, hook it with your fingers to pull it back... they can bind a bit if you grip the bolt handle..

Ok thanks for the information so far. Huntingstuff thanks for the pm, I think I might try your grout idea. If I am going to take apart the whole gun, is there anything I else I can do, trigger etc? Also if I take the bolt apart is there anything I need to watch out for? Ive never taken it apart.
