Smoothing Up A Ruger GP 100

Yes, you know the bar which holds the hammer spring (your remove the grips and you will see the hammer spring riding on the bar I am referring to)... both edges of that bar are very rough; remove the spring and then smooth both edges and your Ruger trigger will feel much much better.

The edges make contact with the spring base and as you pull the trigger you feel how rough or smooth it is. Get it shiny smooth and you will have a smooth trigger.

I had zero problems with the 12lb hammer spring and the 8lb trigger return spring.

If I could do it again thought I'd get the 10lb trigger return spring instead of the 8lb one.

how about the chambers, I found they edges for each chamber is very sharp....? Should I touch these, what would be safe to do? (ie: it seems like it is very new, no wear) Anything else in regards to the parts that I should pay attention to when polishing....?

GP 100 info...

My GP 100 has real rough cross hatch where the thumb cocks the hammer.
Most do.

What is the best way to smooth this down.
The gun is stainless.
I have a dremmel tool also?

Ruger22:
Are you meaning the pad of your thumbs cocks the hammer? You don't want that smooth or your thumb will slip off.

Would I be able to trim the extractor on each cylinder so it loads a bit easier (ie: trim the extractor rims to have a slight bevel for smoother loading using speedloaders), with out compromising anything.

thanks G7...

What I meant was the part of the hammer where the thumb rides on to #### it.

It is so rough it feels like a wood rasp.
I will give my friend a call. He is a machienist, he will know.
