Anyone know how to load a luger snail magazine without the purpose built loader? Is it as simple as pop in rounds and turn the crank?

Yes its true, I am evil and blind. I can get get about 25 in mine without the loader. Up to about 15 its not too hard, but after that it gets tricky.

I have a post here somewhere about dissasembly and cleaning ... I'll have a look for it and post a link.

And note: you have to turn the crank all the way and lock it open (to reduce the coil spring pressure on the main spring), then release it when you have it loaded as much as you can.

For loading I use a wood or plastic stick to push the rounds down about 2" or 3", I can usually slide a few in before the main spring pushes back. With a bit of ingenuity you could make a better purpose build pusher/holder that could make loading a breeze.
