snap caps? magazine? or user error? DDM4V7

Bash the mags in, rip the charging handle back and let her fly. Personally, id just ditch the snap caps all together, I've never seen a benefit to dry fire practice using them.
 
FWIW. There is a reason magpul's exist, insert the mag with confidence then tug on it like you are pulling it out pull to be sure it is seated. Get some Ranger Plates for those LAR-15 mags.

Then rack that bolt with the charging handle and don't ride it home.

My AZoom snap caps run just fine in C Products LAR-15 mags as does 10 rounds of .223. M&P 15 Sport II.

Be careful with ranger plates on LAR-15 magazines. I've experienced issues with the 10th round making mags incredibly difficult to seat and chamber. Another gentleman at a match had similar issues. I use couplers now and have zero issues with 10 round magazines.
 
^^^ trim the follower legs until #10 slides in.
Mine are trimmed to load 10 on a closed bolt. They do not fit 11.

Hi. I have the same rifle. I have experienced the same problem with not inserting a full magall the way home. With the snap cap issue I discovered that as the bolt is drawn back it can bump the lighter cap partially out of the magand will not chamber it on the way back to battery. Try a function check with the bolt locked open insert mag with snap cap, release bolt. Works every time.
 
If you're going to insert a magazine on a closed bolt you need to give it a good smack to make sure it's locked in. I usually lock the bolt back then insert a magazine and then drop the bolt using the bolt release. I typically only use the charging handle once per day since I leave it locked open when not shooting.
LAR mags are also hit and miss when it comes to reliability, some guys have no issues and others can't get them to function reliably.
I've never seen any reason to use snap caps, you won't hurt anything dry firing without them and if I want to have some test rounds I make blank loads (I'm a handloader). You can't trust a plastic replica to tell you if there is something wrong with your rifle.
