You sound like a reasonable person and I can respect that. I agree there is a large sense of dread I have been feeling in Canada the last few years. The divisions are growing and it pains me to say that Canada is losing itself. I don't see how a separation would be positive for any side, Canada is better when we are working together and the talk of separation is a sign of disconnect and massive division. I don't see it happening but I can be wrong.
I simply said I sometimes regret even getting into firearms with some of the detestable people I've met and seen since joining the community. It's all about optics especially to the liberals. So I call it out and mention it because it is a massive issue and does not help, in fact it absolutely hurts our cause. I have been accused of being a crazy person simply because I think we should have rights to firearms similar to the states and that we as Canadians should have the rights to defend ourselves, family, friends, strangers, and person property by use of force if necessary. I learned that I can't always say that if I want them to be more open to guns, so I change the optics and tout how we are not a threat (as backed up by stats can) and that we innocent people should not be punished for the actions of bad actors and deranged criminals (shooters) that make up a tiny fraction of our society. I explain that murder and robbery is already illegal and that limiting firearms mostly hurts and targets innocent law abiding citizens that just want enjoy or protect themselves and loved ones. I was not trying to signal out specifically right leaning people, only people that acted and say the stuff I had mentioned.
I hear you on the crazy people thing. However as you know firearms here are a privilege, so if the optics are bad, it makes us all look bad, and that is all the other side ever needs to go against us and convince others. It's the same thing for motorcycles and cars, when some ####### speeds and kills people, it's all the other responsible riders that ultimately will pay if/when legislation is introduced or insurance goes up. I agree it should not be this way but it does appear to be the way it is. We all look bad when a gang member shoots up Toronto. It's just the sad way it is here.
Cheers.
