Snaring Hares in Ontario? Legal?

Is it legal to snare hares without a trapping license? Or not on a registered trap line? I have a great trail to hunt hares but they are only around once and a while. I seen them all times of day and it seems like it's never the same time. I also have found dens and very clear "rabbit highways" for lack of a better word and I would like to put down some snares if I can do so legally. Let me know what you think and I'll call the MNR tomorrow to find out what's up.

The rules and seasons are clearly defined in the Hunting Regulations Book you can get at DNR.
You need a small game license though and for that you need to take the hunter safety course and pay $$$.

Just another reason why Alberta is better .

You just have to have a small game licence and be within the season dates. No snaring below the mattawa/french river.

Yup you can snare anywhere north of the French/Matawa rivers. Small game license required, seasons and bag/possession limits still apply.

No limit on snowshoe/varying hare when I used to snare them....
