picked up a cut down snider from a friend on nuts hear last winter. it was a cut down 3 bander. trouble is the bbl was about a foot longer that the wood. looked kinda funny with the bbl and cleaning rod hangin out there. so, decided to cut it down to musketoon length. i has a cut down ram rod allready. got on the mill and made a new ramp, and used a #4 enfield site insert so now i have a windage adjustment to.
anyways, i like its looks, and if i could pic up the proper front band with the sling loop on it.........ill be off. going to try taking a deer with it in the fall.
just thought id see what the rest of you think

Nice mods, looks cool. As long as you have a couple originals for historical purposes. I was thinking about taking my Sergeant Mk II** out hunting this fall. Or maybe I'll just sell it. I usually get some beauty marks added to my vintage rifles each hunting season!
 
I have three long rifles and a Sgt's model. I shoot them regularly at the range. I have no doubts that any would take a deer. I do have a friend who hunts deer with a long rifle and takes a deer every year....and they don't leave the spot. I have bee thinking off downsizing but there is a mistique about these old Gals. I think that round balls would shoot best in your short ...long rifle. 80 Grns. FFg Goex...a couple of 1/8" card wads and then the ball (.590"). Deadly at 50 yards.....Dave
 
i have a good BP load worked up, but i havent shot it in this one yet.
yes i like the old sniders, and would never cut one that wasnt allready bubba-fied up allready. i do like its looks very much, its grown on me. but i do need a front band with a slig loop. might have to make one up i guess
