Hey guys. I'm getting ready to load some rounds for my Snider and was wondering if anyone has used Swiss 1.5F black powder. There is a lot of it around and supposedly it burns a little cleaner, but I'm not able to find a lot of info on using it and what a good charge would be for the Snider. Thanks!

I use 66 grains of olde Eynesford 1.5 in my mk3 snider under about 25 grains of corn meal, with a cereal box cardboard plug on top of that. The bullet is the .600 one jet bullets, lubed with black gold Lyman and a bit of bore butter on the bullet itself when I chamber them.

I should double check that load, its written st home. But I'm 99.9 percent its marios 66

Thanks for the reply. I have some of the Ox Yoke .125 thick wads, do you think they'd work ok?

I use 60gr of Swiss 1.5Fg and it's great. I top it off with corn meal and use a thin wad of raw wool (buddy has sheep). My bullet lube of choice is 50/50 beeswax (my own bees) and bear lard (my own bear). I'm going for full redneckery.

Slinky Pickle is giving you a good load.

Put appx 5 grains of pistol powder over the primer (I use HS6) and it will burn super clean, without raising pressures. I also like to fill the hollowbase cavity on the bullet with Bondo dent filler. The plug actually helps the skirts on the bullet obturate into the rifling better.

That 577 bore is huge and it takes a lot to get the pressures where they need to be but not over the limit.

Thanks! I really appreciate all of the advice
