Sniper Rifle Heaven

There going to completely destroy that book. From what I heard, they're merging Bob Lee and Nick Memphis into one character and removing the Vietnam background. Sorry Donn Fenn, I think your going to be cut as well. Marky Mark sucks, there's no way he can play Bob Lee.

Based on Stephen Hunter's novel "Point of Impact," published by Bantam Books in 1993, the story centers on an ace marksman -- living in self-exile in the Arkansas wilderness after causing the death of an innocent person -- who is persuaded by his former associates that they need his help to prevent an assassination and who is subsequently double-crossed and framed for the presidential assassination he was trying to prevent. He is forced to go on the run while trying to track down the real killer and discover the truth about who betrayed him.

I bet you got a pretty mouth!!!

by the description above, sounds like they are going to butcher it, which is interesting because Hunters day job is as a movie critic with a couple of big US papers, it was my understanding that the reason it was taking so long to become a movie was him holding out on creative control....

That's too bad. Sounds like he had no control over this one.

Is it still the Vietnam war? With Marky Mark being so young, maybe they changed it to the Iraq war to appeal to a younger audience...

Sniper Mark Wahlberg preppin for war...

i'm guessing if they're using Cheytac(or ####axe or whatever the other suggested name was) that they are also bringing us into the future so GW1, Kosovo, Somalia, or something similar would make sense, although i quite enjoyed the "black kings" angle in the book....

Did the "Black Kings" ever really exist outside of the book?

Kind of a neat angle.

NS

I always curious about this as well. I am also not sure of Wahlberg taking on the character of Bob Lee, although, with time lines jumping back and forth, you're going to need someone in his age bracket to pull it off. I have trouble picturing Mark with the southern accent. I hope they pull this movie off, and do justice to the books. Bob Lee Swagger is one of my favorite fictional characters.
