sniper rifle

Ahhhhhhhh 're reading' your post(sorry for being snappy) I would go with a 700 based 'variant' and there are more seemingly every day from the factory, Im not knocking savage, at all, but right now the aftermarket is flooded with remington gear.....

i guess it would depend on how much work and money u are planning to spend after u purchase the gun. savages come with the accutrigger and there not great but there not that bad. where remingtons come with a heavy trigger( i think like 5 lb) but u also can blueprint the action on a rem and u will have it forever where i am not really sure if u can blueprint a savage action.

Why does everyone want a 'sniper rifle'? Does that make them a 'sniper' suddenly? Tactical type rifle yes, sniper rifle... that could be any gun that shoots consistent groups. Savage vs Remington has gone up forever. I'm pretty sure you can find an old thread from last month or the month before about this exact topic.

We all know that to shoot better than Walberg you need a Savage!:runaway::runaway:

But in reality, any accurate rifle will do, buy what your budget allows and is pleasing to your eye. The rifle will likely shoot better than anyone of us can...

:sniper::sniper::sniper:savage 10 fcp OR remington 700

Jesus H. Christ. Here we go again. Seriously, has this forum degraded to the point where the same question or variation of it, is asked every other day?

There's (6) moderators for this board and it's got to this point?

Hey, I made the suggestion that this sort of tedious, irrelevant and repetitive factory rifle brand question be moved from the PRECISION rifle forum and given its own forum where these same noobee questions can be debated to death.

That was a unpopular idea.

That or they should merg all the savage vs. Rem threads and make it a sticky at the top of the forum with a big flashing heading.

I actually supported that idea (having two separate sub-forums under precision rifles: factory sub-forum & custom sub-forum).

At any rate, his question isn't brand vs. brand, it's model vs. model of two rifles which are comparable.

Outlaw,

Here's a review of the Savage 10FCP, and here's one of the Remington 700 Police (which I'm assuming is the variant you were referring to). Based on this, you should be able to come to your own conclusions! :cool:

If it's worth two ####s, I prefer the Savage chiefly due to the stock; in either case, according to the reviews, you're looking at, on average, a ½ MOA rifle (give or take a fraction of an inch). I haven't tried either rifle.

As did I. I received a similar repsonse.

Just putting a scope on any factory bolt action hunting rifle, heavy barrel or not, doesn't make it a sniper's rifle.

I asked for a "what to buy" sticky a long time ago and no mod ever said or did anything, half this thread is just savage vs remington. It's become like junk mail on here...
