looking for a very accurate ww 2 sniper rifle, must be bolt action, anyone have any ideas for me, must be able be in a caliber that ammo can be easily found in. and I don't want to go over $700.00

Mosin Nagant 91/30 in it's sniper configuration. Several dealers have them for around $700. Won't find anything less expensive than that unless you get very, very lucky.

Sniper Rifle eh? ....In a movie Diamond Dogs with Dolph Lundgren he asks some girl he apparently used to date if she still has his sniper rifle. She said yes and later gave me his SKS back. :D

Just wondering how readily available 7.62x54 ammo is and is it affordable, same for 8mm Mauser ammo, I don't see much of either of these calibers of ammo, but lots of guns in these calibers. Or am I just not looking hard enough yet. Would be pointless for me to get a good ww2 sniper rifle or something equivalent and have no ammo. or have to pay an arm or a leg for it.

If you want readily available ammunition... You can always try to find a 1903A4

Or a Enfield 4-T

I'm sure you could buy them for a few easy payments of $700...

7.62x54R is plentiful enough here in NS, so I would assume that it's even easier to get in AB. It's not a caliber that is commonly found at wally world or can tire, although any decent surplus store should have a few types to choose from.

Trade Ex has a Mosin Nagant M91/30 Sniper for $795 + tax if you can stomach that.

Ok, Mauser 98 ammo? 8mm right just how
hard is ammo for that to find? Nice gun but
ammo price, rarer then hens teeth?

whats better 8mm or 7.92x57

is 7.92x57 7mm ammo?

still looking for a ww2 bolt looking more at the mauser now, but undecided on cal. would like one in vg+ or new condition, for a sniper project.

any help thanks in advance

Jeff

"...a 1903A4...Or a Enfield No. 4 Mk IT..." You won't get either of them for $700. A fake maybe.
"...8mm Mauser ammo..." Lots of commercial hunting ammo. No milsurp.

Sorry buddy but sniper models always ask a premium, for that price you could always find a good enough shooter and scope it. But then it won't be genuine and it'll be bubba'd.

Dude read the whole post next time.

Jeff old son, you sound a little strange to me. You kind of remind me of the guy I met in Northland Sports one day. He came in looking for a powerful rifle, didn't matter what kind or calibre, he just wanted a powerful rifle. He was pretty hopped up on the idea. He was very disappointed when the proprieter told him to get a PAL and then come back. The fellow got quite upset.

Now I'm not saying you're of the same bent as the fellow I'm talking about but you sure don't want to hear what anyone is telling you. Wise up, there is some very good advice here as well as a dose of reality for you. $700 may seem like a lot of money to you but when it comes to WWII sniper rifles in excellent condition, it's chump change. Definitely time for a reality check.

oh, my,, I should have been more specific as to what my intentions are. I am looking for a ww 2 bolt action rifle so i can put a scope on it and make my self belive that it's a sniper rifle or as close to one as i can get for the price of $700.00 scoped or not.. I know it is now possible to get a mosin nagant in this price range, most likely not a mauser, but , I figure if i can find a low round count one and put a scope on it it will carry me through the END Times.

Thanks Jeff
