sniper Slide show

Not all US and not all Iraq. Saw some Brits with their Accuracy International L-whatevers and at 3:39 is a Canadian with his C3A1. As everyone who reads the newspaper, Canada has never had troops in Iraq - we haven't, right?

A lot of those guys will be SDM [Squad Designated Marksmen], not snipers.

Some of the military dudes get a little pissy about the difference.

as they should but this is just a video of guy's in action:D lets keep it that way;)

Maybe its just me but does anybody see anything wrong with alot of the roof top shooting positions? Maybe its just camera angle but to me It looks like alot of those soldiers are in a position that makes them a sillouette to enemy counter sniper shots. Right up on the edge of the roof with little or no cover? Im not there, but I don't think it's a position I would take.

Not trying to insult those there, just looks strange to me and maybe Im missing something.

Some of the guys on the roofs seemed like they were more security than actual snipers. Like the guys with the .50's to take out suicide car bombers before they get close. I was surprised at all the M14's.
I am no military guy but I was checking out the new Browning BAR short track stalker and it looks like it would work really well in the designated marksmen role.

given that the extent of tactical sniping experience i have is based on what i learn at various websites, in books, Gaming and from a few guys who have real world expierience i have to agree that some of the fireing points are not the most umm whats the word camoflauged. defintly alot of shillouting and skylineing in a few of those pics. but it is defintly a nice slide show with an excellent choice of music

Like someone said. Not everyone is an actual sniper.Probably lots of designated marksmen.

I think the video would be better with different music.

Something more appropriate like MOTORHEAD.........KILLED BY DEATH!!!!!

It looks like the majority of those in the video were in the "DM" role, and not actually Sniper Qualified.

Anyone using an M14 or SPR would be the "DM".

SKBY.

One of those pictures (1:49) is from an embassy protection excercise, and I really doubt the pictures from the helo and the ghillie suits are from Iraq either, because 1.) I doubt they'd have airborne snipers flying over Iraqi lakes, and 2.) the ghillies those guys were wearing were green, and it just doesn't seem too suitable in the desert???

-But hey, you never know!

Yeah you're definately right. There's quite a few DM's out there now, and Canada's starting to employ a lot more DM rifles.

Longshot probably knows more about this than me, but as far as I know CF snipers are starting to use AR-10's and the CF's C7CT much more often in Afghanistan now, as well as replacing C3's with C-14 Timberwolves.

This I know, but a DM is a member of a platoon, section, etc. Not a sniper. I was just checking to see if you actually knew what you were talking about.....good answer.....

Oh of course; I more meant "DM" rifles than DM's, cause as far as I know, we don't have any.
