Snipers rejoice!

Interesting.

I know Barrett is working on a scope that has electronic tables built in (and I think a laser range finder) that automatically changes the elevation and windage to compensate for distance, but nothing that detects wind or atmospheric densities etc.

It might be easier to build a smart bullet.

It's all good until you run out of batteries, or have a electronics malfunction.

You can always rely on the "old school" way and should be required to have that knowledge no matter what new gadget is issued.

SKBY.

the barret system attaches to the scope and doesn't mean you have to use it.

But seriously! It would be the ultimate scope. No more of this, Nightforce this, nightforce that! Anyway, somewhere it said all submissions would be classified, and that means we'll get a civie model in about........40 years......maybe not that long, but it wont be any time soon. Too bad.

Would all those fancy sensors, lasers and electronics be able to take the recoil of magnum calibers, even 50BMG, and survive the abuse of military service (rain, dust, sand, extreme cold and heat, being dropped, submerged, used to hammer tent posts, etc)?

Frankly, I seriously doubt it.

I've played America's Army; love it!
That would kinda take a very large part of the skill out of sniping (and in a way...the satisfaction of making a good shot)...
