No season on cougars here, so I'll have to settle for coyotes...:D

Went out for a quick trial today. Fired 1 free-hand at about 60 yds, a little high. Then fired 3 more from 120 yds, off my homemade shooting sticks. Not bad for the first 4 shots fired out of this rifle, and using Win whitebox ammo...

Funny thing is I took this scope off a .308 and didn't make any adjustments...:D

Plain old white hockey tape isn't bad for winter camo on scopes and barrels if you don't want to paint them. A little rubbing alcohol and any remaining sticky stuff comes right off, when it's cleanup time. You can also dabble on it with a magic marker if you like!

Is that a 700 SPS? If so, what kind of paint did you use?

700 SPS SS. I used the Krylon Fusion white, khaki, brown, and satin clear on top.

You can get it at Walmart or Canadian tire...

Snipped of a piece of forage from a fake plant in the rec-room for the pattern.:)

I took the mold lines down with a razor and sandpaper.
Put 3 coats of white on, then left it for a couple days.
Then took this fake forage, and swept over it with the Khaki, moving it along the stock as I went.

Then did the same with the brown.
Then lightly fogged the white over it again.
Let it sit another day, then put 2 coats of Satin Clear Coat over it.

Pretty simple, but takes a couple days, as you want it to dry well.

white vet wrap works better than hockey tape and only sticks to itself so no residue to clean up (plus there are lots of other colors) and if you want to get all "snipery" you can stick leaves and grass into the tape as you wrap the gun....
