Well, since hunting season is over, spring is creeping up slowly but surely, and I'm already starting to get stuff together for the spring snow goose season:D . I need an electronic caller that's really loud, but the problem is that I'm on a tight budget so the snow crow pro is out of the question:( I am thinking about trying to build my own e-caller, something cost-effective, and I've heard about people building their own using a tape deck for a vechicle or an MP3 player. What would I need to put it together, other than the deck/player, cord, amp and speaker? Would car speakers work best since they are loud? Or would it be best to go with a horn of some type? If I have enough, I'd like to have multiple speakers also, to face different directions. I guess I would be willing to spend at most around $200.00? What would be the best way to go? Has anyone built one before or can give me some help?:runaway:

Thanks.;)

BTW, for decoys, would it be best to get a lot of rags, or get fewer shells? Right now I have 2 dozen carrylite shells and 1 roll of those snow goose rags, I was thinking of buying maybe 3-5 more rolls for the spring, or would it be better to buy 2 more rolls of rags and then another 2doz. shells? I have hunted waterfowl (both geese and ducks) for 3 years already, but this will be my first time going for snow geese so I could use some pointers! I saw a really good idea while watching Martin Archery's show on Wild TV, when they went snow goose hunting they used mojo's and just spray-painted them white, it looked like a good idea and worked pretty good, but it would have to wait as that's to much cash spending for now. Also, is it true that for snow geese you stop calling once they start coming towards you? Or would you keep calling like with canadas? Thanks.:p

Are electronic calls legal for waterfowl? If they are they must have recently changed the regs. You can call varmints with electronics but I don't believe you can use one on waterfowl. Some one correct me if I am wrong!

Yes, I can use an electronic caller for snow geese in conservation and regular season ONLY if all of the decoys used are 'white' decoys, AKA snow decoys.

EDIT TO ADD: Thanks for the link, that looks like exactly what I'm after, although do you think it would be better to use some type of automotive speakers as to get the loudest sound possible? So it looks like I would just need a sound source, some wire, an amplifier and a speaker?

Thanks again for the link ;)
