I'm trying to get out with one friend for some snow goose this year.

Just gonna run a spread of windsocks and silhouette decoys, wonder what calls you guys use and if there's any area of crown land to do this on. From what I've seen on maps there's not anything that stands out. Also looking for any tips suggestions and the ladder thanks.

Location is alberta.

You can use e-callers in Alberta for the spring conservation order snow goose hunt. Public land? Good luck finding that here.....snows are going to roost on big water and feed in last years harvested cereal crops and that means private lands.....you're going to have to locate feeding and loafing spots and get permission.

Dang am I to late to the party?

Birdwatcher's reports have been as stated, and as of this morning it seems the huge flocks that Ontario and Quebec get are still around. There is nothing like the sight and sound of tens of thousands of bright white geese in a cornfield, by far the most birds I've seen in one spot at one time anywhere. Want some for dinner, better get going though, I do have the idea that it's warmer weather here that disperses them to the north.

Its one thing to trick a pair of Canadas to come in, quite another to trick a flock of a thousand! Good luck, and if you can find a spot to hunt make that decoy spread as big as you can.

Nope it's only just barely starting right now. Birds are just coming up. Few birds as far north as Lloydminster but not many. No such thing as public land snow Goose hunting in Alberta far as I know. Farm land is going to be where to hunt them.

Yes, one of my buddies says his hunting partner found a feed there today. Probably setting up for them in the morning if I know them. Should be into them hot and heavy by the time I wrap up this turnaround rotation and get home on the 15th. Just bought another 4 dozen fb's today to add to the spread. That gives us 650 fb's between the 4 of us.

Nice yah I like Canadians so now I wanna try my hand at snow goose. Just finding the location and doing a decent spread and a bit of good timing will be key

SIL family has land on Buffalo Lake Ab. and says that a couple thousand snows hung around the lake for a week but lifted off Sunday and headed north, said they just lifted high and strung out like they meant to move camp permanently.

The adults head home as quick as possible to get to the breeding grounds. The juvies(non-breeders) bring up the rear and pass through and stick around much longer. No hurry for them as the urge to mate isn't there. They make up the bulk of successful hunts we experience as April turns to May......we get into the Ross geese as the spring wanes too, they seem to be the last to pass through. In May last year our bags consisted of maybe one or two snows and the remainder would be Ross's.
