Shot 25 today with my Marlin 917V in 17 HM2. Dont generally shoot them this early but this fella will poison if i dont get out there. Life is tough.

Pretty low counts here so far, only males out. Got 7 yesterday but spent more time with new contacts than shooting. Doing show and tell with the CZ,s, guys think the Ultra is one fine gopher gun.

I've got a nice new Henry Frontier to try out this spring, and I'm going to take my JR out this spring and see what a 9mm does to a gopher.

What gopher??...

Was quadding last weekend and stopped by my water hole for a smoke . There was about fifteen of the little guys running about and me without my rifle .
This is in between Vegreville and Two Hills Alberta . It's going to be a busy summer on the farm for the rimfire collection !

I`ve shot about 150 with Win 9422 Classic, Marlin39A (1947) and a refinished Win 62A. I think I cleaned up the field pretty good haven`t seen one in about a week. Next out will be my Zastav`s and a CZ or two.

I've got a few dozen with my 10/22, half dozen with my little badger, and one with my Mosin M44...

I really wish I'd had a video of the shot I took with the M44. It was a week after the Calgary gun show, and I was really just out running it through its paces after cleaning it up. Dumb gopher ran out in front of me about 60 feet away so I took a bit of a snap shot. The gopher got about 20 feet vertical and 30 feet of distance before it landed, dead as a door-nail and not a mark on it, just blood out of the ears and mouth. Figure I hit just below it and the concussion did the work.

Going to take my CIL/Anschutz 125 out tomorrow.... Maybe take my SVT-40 as a backup gun :)

Funny you ask this as I was yakkity yacking a buddy a couple days ago.
I was invited out a couple years back and it was sooooooooooo fun.
I asked if I needed binos and he said no.
Unless they move, I can't see them very well with my eyes.
I'm slightly colour blind. Bino's next time.
We were up at a farmer's place near Sun Peaks.
The fields were just full of them. I took a few different 22's and the best
performer for me that day was my old faithful Winchester Model 69A.
Don't ask me why it out performed my T-Bolt. The T has a nicely trimmed
trigger now and can shoot just as good or if not better than my two CZ's.
I think glass makes a huge difference. AO's are a pain.
Maybe this year I'll get to go again.

Hey Looky,
Do you have access to gopher fields there?
Not too many in Langley.

Been stockpiling .22lr and loading .204R like a mad man. Have a couple SWEET spots by where I am and in the last two years I've never had a day where we've shot less than 100 between the 2 or 3 of us that go out. Haven't even made a dent in the population as far as I can tell :D

Picked this CZ455 up in February. Was a .22, is now a 17HMR. I want a shooting mat to add to my "gopher kit" but i'm ready to go as soon as the weather smartens up, hopefully this weekend.

Definitely looking for better than a 3-4 gopher day, should have that many in about 10 minutes around here.

Would your friend have enough gophers to host a few of us?

yea, they are out. If you don't shoot a couple thousand rounds in the summer then it has been slow :).22lr,hornet, 222, & 223 should all get a workout. Just got a second 223 and now need another scope. The hardest part is getting land to shoot on, less cattle around then there was 10 yr. ago.

Ready, just no time. Between working to keep myself in college and my finals rolling in just next week, been to busy to do anything.

Still, I got the Marlin 7000 tuned up, the Cooey 60 is always ready to go, the ol' Stevens 75 pump-action is looking to make a mark, and I am giving serious consideration to making a holster for my ancient Crosman Mark I .22 target CO2 pistol for those surprise gophers that pop up closeby in the middle of a reload.

It'll only shoot about 400 FPS, but within ten paces I know it to be perfectly adequate for partridge.
