So, are EoTech's the black sheep of the optics world now, or are they still good?

Been looking into getting one. I am a target shooter, and do not see myself in any of the extreme conditions where these optics apparently have trouble in, so, worth it?

If you use it at the range and know the issues with the Eotech, then , yeah, fine. Afterall, it's still mounted on a lot of LE/Mil guns currently in service.
Personally, I would go Aimpoint or Trijicon.
My oldest RDS is my Eotech 512. It's also my least used. My T-1 is my absolute favorite!

I sent my Eotech in for a refund and did profit on it, but I somewhat regret it now. I loved that sight and prefer it to the Aimpoint Comp ML3 I have on the AR now.

forget the model I have....its like a 512 but is NV compatible. Love it, find it faster to pickup than the aimpoint, and AA batteries are easy to find when I need them.

Probably the 552...

I still love my EoTech... I find the "donut of death" waaaaay faster than a single dot.

I've not seen a zero shift in mine while using it in competitions here on the West Coast... Maybe because I'm not subjected to radical swings in temperature!!

I sent mine back for refund but I truly miss it. The actual sight picture is insurpassable.

I sent my old 512 back for a refund, bought an aimpoint pro, sold the aimpoint pro then bought an exps 3.

I just missed my eotech that much and i havent had a single problem with my exps yet. The 512 was starting to dim a bit and i had to change the contacts because they were corroded but replacement parts were free even if the sight was 8 years old.

Never noticed any poi shift but i mainly use the eotech on my cqbr clone and it is used for cqb and close stuff, max 100 yds, not really into shooting groups.

Just be aware of the potential issues before buying an eotech.

And?

You still also use the tac vest, LS, small pack system and the new ruck. That does not make them good

What he said.

With what we know about the 512/L3, it is absolutely criminal that we (the CAF) are still using the Eotechs operationally. I considered doing everyone a favour and chucking ours into the Red Sea. At my home platoon we had 3 of 45 fail just sitting in the racks (prism unglued, terminal failure). Others have had the usual problems, high rate of battery use, loose contacts leading to sight shutdown while in use, zero shifts. I'm going to stop myself right here, before I go into a rant and write all my hate into a wall of text. And this is from the guy who bought his own for his first tour.

If you shoot paper and you like the Eotech family, have at her. Whatever floats your boat, not my monkey/not my zoo. To be honest I've grown to like the 512 reticle (65 MOA?) and I see the appeal for CQB range. I still would never use/buy one on my own dime.

Worth it? That's up to you DVX. You might get lucky and it might work for you. Might.

Regret sending my xps3 back it was tan and new and I liked It that was a dumb dumb move. But the zombie stopper two that was a damn good move I hated the reticle

Still looking to buy another exps or xps 2-2. Best sight I have ever used (other than less than stellar battery life). Over the years, I never lost zero, even when shooting in extreme temps.

That's strange, my unit lost all of ours months ago. We were rocking those ####ty plastic iron sights for a bit, but got a load of C79s in recently.
