Here is a video from this weekend while out coyote hunting near Ottawa with a buddy.
Our morning went something like this.
We get out of the truck and start making our way to the first set, a TON of fresh tracks in the field, we quickly discuss just sitting down and calling but decide we are too close to the road and nothing will happen. After walking about 400M of the 900M walk to the first set my buddy gets my attention. Sure enough its a yote with the afterburners engaged on the opposite side of the field. He has a camera I have the gun, I hit the snow. This dog wasn't stopping for anything. Oh well, We make it to the stand and call for a bit, nothing... What a surprise....
Then we go back to the truck and go to another spot, cross a large river and climb the bank on the other side. Call for a bit, nothing, we decide to move down onto the ice and call some more, still nothing.
There are a ton of crows out, a few down at ice level, about 800M away. Meh lets give it a shot, we are going home any ways. I dial the scope up and let one fly. Imagine that I missed a crow at 800M.....
So we start walking back on the ice towards the truck, super fresh coyote tracks, clearly moving at a brisk jog in our direction, we are pretty sure they were coming to the call at some point but winded us and buggered off instead.
Then my buddies Xterra won't start for some reason, it's old and doesn't him any money to put it politely. We parked at the bottom of the slightest depression, so push it up the tiny hill and then start pushing it back wards down the 2% grade and bump start it in reverse. Laugh and complain a lot and go home for lunch.
We go to another farm for the evening and set up for 1 longer stand. Which leads us to this embarrassing video:
It turns out I am an idiot and didn't dial my scope back down after shooting at the crow in the morning........
Cool video of a fox coming in on a string from over 600M, followed by the lamest attempt at shooting ever, I couldn't see any of my splash, I didn't realize what I had done until after the fox was long gone.
So long story short, check your turrets.
