So as I put the last part on my 1911 I added a extended slide release . It was complete putting the last grip screw in and crack right down the middle of my rosewood grip...... Fawk now I need some grips made up what a total piss off I am stuck with crap norinco grips until I find some with no bevel on the bottom :(

Any idea's??? No wood or rubber.. Only plastic this time

If you are interested, I got Hogue 'Exotic wood' grips I can part with, they are of walnut color and seem to be of hard wood. PM me if interested, I'll let them go for less than what I paid, thou they are brand new (sold the gun they were for).

I've used G-10 for knife handles and even in very thin sections it seems very strong and crack resistant.
I'd think G-10 pistol grips would work great. Plus the G-10 I used isn't "slippery" in the same way that wood can get.

Glue.

If you can get the crack open a bit fill it with wood glue and then wipe off the squeeze out with a damp cloth and lightly clamp if you have clamps and if not wrap with electrical tape pulling on the tape to create clamping force....

Forget plastic. Buy G10.

^^^ This. VZ grips are the best of the best and not only do they ship to Canada, but they ship fast too. I just ordered another set Operator II's in black G-10 from them Tuesday morning around 11:00 and by 1:00 that afternoon I received a shipping confirmation e-mail! Great company to deal with and some of the best grips out there.

I've got VZ "Gator Back" grips on my Nighthawk with no bevel...they're great grips. Not too "snaggy" but when you tighten your grip they lock right in. I love them!
