So daughter number 2 wants to learn to shoot - CZ content

I started my boys off with Rascals, which are very accurate rifles. My oldest then went to a Savage Mark II GY which had also been a great rifle. My younger son moved up to a Savage B22 compact. Both rifles have taken many gophers, and shoot great groups at 50m. I’ve been very happy with the Savage rimfires.

Have you considered a .22 handgun? They're light and short, low recoil. If you're just going to the range it won't make much difference for usage, but of course you'd have to train her a little more for stance and grip.

If you don't mind levers, check out a Henry H001 Classic. They can be single loaded if need be, they're light, reliable, slicker than snot cycling, and have a very good trigger.

The iron sights aren't bad, though it may shoot high at 25 yds. Mine did.
The front sight is easily replaced with a fibre optic HiViz unit, the original isn't great but it does work.

They were on sale recently at Bass Pro and Cabela's for $379 CDN.

I'd suggest buying one for yourself and encourage her to use it until she grows a little bit more. If she turns into an accuracy addict look for a CZ or Tikka then.

The Savage Rascals aren't bad little rifles, but she'll outgrow it fairly quickly I think. Maybe get a used one and sell it on if that happens.

Just received a CZ 452 Scout from the EE. Never owned one before. Came with two x 5 round magazines plus the single shot adapter. Can not imagine a better "starter" .22, and not too bad for a "Grampa" either (I'll be 65 shortly). Just less than 33 inches from top tip of butt to muzzle. 4 pounds 13 ounces weight. Only "down side" is that "pull back to fire / push forward for safe" safety lever. I would think that would only be a good idea if your only other fire arm was another CZ with that same safety.

I forgot about the Micro Midas BL22 from Browning! Perfect for smaller shooters, and also LEFTY friendly if that is a concern :)

I was thinking that gun would be perfect . I love their Micro line because I have a ridiculously short LOP , plus their quality is very high imo .

:agree:
The 452 Scout's are the "sleepers" of the CZ's when it comes to accuracy and handiness afield. Perfect fer yonkers and older folks to pop targets & pest critters with. Easy to tweek the triggers with a lighter spring to boot. I'll not part with my one till I croak.
