I recently got married (thanksgiving long weekend)

So, for a frst year anniversary gift in the middle of october, what not better to give her than a new rifle?

Its the gift that keeps the freezer full.

Think she'd go for it?

You had better be right. The only thing worse than a pissed off wife is a well armed pissed off wife...

I have been married since the concept was introduced. (And my wife is a very active shooter.) Women take things like anniversaries very seriously. They expect you to do the same. And it is not the size or value of the present - it is the romantic angle to the present.

A rifle is not romantic. I have given mine a number of them and it was right up there with giving her a new garden shovel or garden cart in impact.

Don't spoil what has so far been a good relationship. Buy tickets to a good stage production, make reservations at a nearby restaurant and hotel for the over night stay.

And next year tell her it is her turn to choose the stage show, restaurant and hotel.

Hmmmm..... maybe a PINK concert and then give her a pink .22 sounds romantic to me, LOL

Next year she can take me to big valley and maybe I can get a new fishing rod on the anniversary. sounds fair

Multiple choice of anniversary gift giving:
A. Is it impractical?
B. Is it something you know less about than her?
C. Is it something you will never ever show her how to use / take care of?
D. Is it something that suggests she is the most desirable person in the world to you?
E. Is it something that shows you listened to something she said a long time ago while you were sleeping, intoxicated, and wearing earplugs?
F. All of the above.

If its not F good luck.

Just because gifts (as in I like you so much that I want to spend time with you so here is a rifle to go the range with me) have different rules.

The guys telling you to get her that rifle for your anniversary, they're going to be laughing at you later. If you turn it around, if she gives you the rifle then it works eh?

The simplified rule, the more you dislike it, the better the gift - it shows you care...

Frankly - i think there's no stronger way for a man to say "i will not cheat, i will not hit you, i will not mistreat you" than to give his wife a gun :)

Personally I think that a nice 20' welded aluminum, centre console jet boat with a 9.9 hp Honda kicker and a EZLoad trailer would really let her know that you love her.

Buy pots and pans also for her to add to her surprise. It will go over just as well! hahah! Have a good friend with a couch standing by!

My wife is my best friend . . . I couldn't get a gun for her.
Get her little things all year round, no special occassion required, then go get your own gun. Yesterday I bought her a 46" LCD TV with a BluRay DVD. Today I ordered a Rem 700 Sendero but sold two to get it. 41st anniversary on Dec 24th. I have a keeper. I hope she doesn't hear me sending this message . . . she has really good hearing . . . don't even talk about her at the gun range!!!
