So how are the gophers doing where you guys are?

Was out at a new contact for a bit today. Gophers are spread around there. Took a bit of moving around, but managed 92. Fav gopher gun is my 452 Lux with a Bushy 3200 5-15x50.. Favor it over my Anschutz 1710 DKL. The 1710 is pretty fussy about the ammo it likes to chamber. The Lux does excellent with Win 555 bulk. Plus it's lighter.

Had an amazing day just across the border in Saskatchewan on Monday. My shooting partner lpel and I started at 9:30, quit at 4:30 with a short lunch break. One 80 acre paddock and surpassed the 900 gopher mark 🤯 Could have easily cleared a 1000 if it wasn’t so windy. But you get surprisingly good at reading the wind after the first hundred rounds fired.

Years ago I had a 'day', I had almost given up, there were so few gophers where I was shooting. My host phoned around and a farmer said he had gophers. This was an understatement, I have never seen anything like it before or since, the ground was moving. Between 10AM and 6PM I fired 1000 rounds.

The farmer later asked if I was using a semi auto, I replied that I was using a bolt action. which surprised him. My hit rate was very, very high as not only were they EVERYWHERE from 5 feet out and the cattle had trimmed the grass to a level that a groundsman at a golf course would be pleased with AND there was zero wind and it was warm.

I ached the next day LOL

I've shot on that same farm every since, it must be 30 years now and it's been very good shooting but never like that 'day'. I've only missed 3 or 4 years since 1986 since I first went out with Al Page (Cowboy Action Shooter Reverend Al).

The stars were aligned that day.
