So since I have decided to go with the sks, which one should I choose the russian or chinese. What are the main differences, also I may/or may not modify

Russian/Eastern European SKS' will be military surplus, while Chinese (Norinco) ones may be new manufacture. Other than that, about the only read difference is the bayonet. Russian SKS usually has a blade bayonet, while the Chinese ones usually have a spike bayonet.
