And I'm wondering what's the best bang for buck red dot around?

I like the look of this one:

It would be mounted to this AR:

The high rise would allow me to install some back up sights in the near future. Is this a good option?

We (wife and I ) each bought one of those Bushnell TRS-25's with the AR riser. We both love em. It is a 3 MOA dot so it is accurate enough for the application of the AR and its not super expensive.

Welcome to the dark side.

Get comfortable spending money :)
The more you feed it, the more you addiction grows :D

I should have specified... I'm looking to spend $150.00-$200.00 and that's already on the high side. That AR set me back.

ok , go buy this shhhit , day after throw it to the garbage , and buy something reliable , from 300 up to 700 . Good Luck .

I run these on my shotguns, they seem to hold up, not using the riser though. Had a buddy who had one with the riser and the mount crapped out (broke the screw that fastens the base to the rail).

Also, the current batch of these has a weird design flaw, the red dot has a tendancy to disappear in the top 1/3 of the sight picture. I got lucky, mine don't.....something to do with the emitter, but mine are about 3 yrs old.

I run a Holosun (lifetime warrantee) on my AR beacuse I can't afford an H1 or T1. It will do until I get bumped into a higher tax bracket.

A wife with an RPAL and an AR-15 - sheer heaven! The wife of one of my fellow club members has her own Dillon 650 progressive reloader (that's how much she shoots) - and she won't let him touch it so he can't mess up the settings.

Where do I sign up for the "gun-friendly wife wishlist"...?

funny, I have one on an AR and also on my mosserg 935 that I use 3 1/2" win long beard xr's in and they have worked fine for a few years now.......... but you know best.
they work well for me and haven't had any issues at all with either of the two I own. I actually like them and would buy another.

from my expirience with that bushnell's its all garbage unfortunately you will get what you pay , so i just trying to safe money for TS .

I have used the TRS-25s on several firearms with great success. I now run a Bushy MP 1x32 that I bought for less than $200. I have run several competitions and over 2000 rounds with it- I Love It!
Just some honest input OP.

Best to shoot flip up sights?

At that price point you can get some pretty good BUIS. Which I would recommend over the cheaper red dot sights out there.

Research the hell out of the various optical sights out there then make your choice. Especially when you're talking about a DD Mk18 Mod1

-S.

I'll take a quality red dot optic over irons every time, especially on AR's - if I can't or won't scope it for the purpose. Quality iron sights (in a set) are just too close to the cost of decent redots.
