So I bought an XD40 today.

or you can just go witha para ... o.0

What on earth does this have to do with XD's?
If you're suggesting that a Para-Ord is "better" than an XD, you're out to lunch. I owned one and it was the most problem-prone jamomatic pistol I have ever owned. Spare me.
The XD series of pistols are inexpensive but well made, reliable and accurate. That's just about all most folks are looking for in a pistol.

ionno i never had a problem with para's... then again i sold mine cuz i saw a colt up for grabs....

HEy that reminds me... IM SELLING MY COLT anyone interested,.... its a gov't model 45 acp series 80
almost brand spankin new minus 3 boxes of ammo that gone through it

I hear a lot about fit and finish regarding various models. I've owned Glocks, Sigs, S&Ws and 1911s. For me it is fit and feel. The XD40 fits my hand perfectly and feels right. But to each his own. Only time I shot a Para, I got a hammer bite. My fault but after that bout of cursing I have never fired another. SOB stove piped on that shot as well.

Why would you sell a gun after shooting only 3 boxes of ammo through it?

I think you will be happy with the XD. From what I have readthe XD is reliable and a good price. Steve Anderson from the USA uses one for production. Chek out his website. Very quick draws.

XD Mag release

Question: I had an XD in my hand for a few seconds and thought the mag release was difficult to reach. I intent to use it for practical IPSC competition. So this had me thinking Glock but I really want the XD. Comments would be appreciated on the mag release?

I have short fingers and a similar problem. I tend to drop the mag with my trigger finger on the off side. This has two benifits. One, it's very positive, and two, it makes absolutly sure my finger is out of the trigger gaurd during mag changes.

Oh, if you cant reach it on a XD, how will you on a glock? I find them much bigger in the hand?

The mag release is ambi out of the box. You can get an extended mag release, but for small hands or large I don't see spending the extra bucks. Most guys I know are 2 handed shooters. Adjust your grip and you can release right or left handed with your thumb or stink finger.:p The trigger finger has one purpose only:D
